Perspective is Primary

The way I see things can change every aspect of a situation. Perspective can completely dismantle a particular argument I might have in a debate. I have had many experiences in life where I started with a perspective that was closed off. There was nothing and no one in existence that could change the way I saw things. It wasn’t until it was too late I realized, had I approached things from a different angle, my problems would have been solved quite simply. Perspective is a gift. But it can be incredibly dangerous as well. If a person is stuck in one way of thinking, and not open to a new way of seeing things. It can definitely stunt growth. So many things are affected by my perspective. Without an open minded approach to my relationship. Me and Pretty Girl would most definitely argue constantly. But because we are both open minded and willing to see the other persons point of view. Things can be resolved without a heated discussion. Things are not perfect by any means. That would be a false reality. But I do know that because we have an open minded approach to how we each see things as individuals. It makes things we don’t see eye to eye on much easier to talk about and find middle ground. None of the things I write about here came over night. Everything I share, I work on daily. Growth takes constant effort. Building muscle hurts. Not only do you feel physical pain but there is mental pain as well. It takes discipline to dedicate yourself to a workout regiment. You must push yourself mentally and physically to build your physical form. I feel like I have to work twice as hard to prepare my mind for the mental battle I must fight day in and day out. If I am unprepared, my disease will without a doubt bring death to my door. I am ever vigilant and realize that my life includes my mental and physical health. Having an open mind and being willing to see things from multiple perspectives helps me make the best decision when I face problems in recovery.

My recovery is my responsibility. My program is only as fortified as I make it. My recovery not only depends on having a strong mind. I must also be open to different ways of doing things. To get something I’ve never had, I must do things I have never done. I will take advantage of the opportunity every day provides me to grow and remain ever vigilant in filling my recovery toolbox.

Many of us have said,

Take my will and my life. Guide me in my recovery. Show me how to live.

I used heroin for 20 years searching for peace, purpose, and freedom β€” but nothing filled the void. In 2023, I was baptized in Jesus’ name, and everything changed. Now I help Christian men break free from addiction, self-sabotage, and spiritual stagnation through Biblical truth and mindset renewal. My program, Transformed by Truth, was built for men ready to break the cycle and step into their God-given purpose. Jesus transformed me into the man I always knew I could be β€” and He can do the same for you. Follow if you're ready to grow in your faith, renew your mind, and become the leader God created you to be.
